Job Description: Primary Social Teacher (Grades 3–5)Position Summary
The Primary Social Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging and inquiry-based learning environment that helps students understand the world around them. The teacher will develop students' knowledge of history, geography, civics, culture, and environmental awareness while fostering critical thinking, communication, and responsible citizenship.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver interactive Social Studies lessons aligned with the school's curriculum.
- Use activity-based, project-based, and inquiry-driven teaching strategies.
- Integrate maps, models, technology, stories, and current events into lessons.
- Encourage discussion, questioning, and collaborative learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Assessment
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Prepare worksheets, projects, and revision materials.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment.
- Foster respect, empathy, and teamwork among students.
- Ensure student safety and well-being during all classroom activities.
Curriculum & Planning
- Prepare yearly, monthly, and weekly lesson plans.
- Develop engaging teaching aids and classroom displays.
- Participate in curriculum review and resource development.
- Integrate cross-curricular connections where appropriate.
Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Attend Parent-Teacher Meetings and school events.
- Collaborate effectively with class teachers and subject teachers.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in professional development programmes and training.
- Attend staff meetings and school functions.
- Complete administrative tasks and documentation on time.
- Uphold school policies, values, and professional ethics.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Social Studies concepts for the primary level.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Creativity in lesson planning and activity design.
- Ability to use educational technology effectively.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Passion for nurturing curiosity and global awareness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject.
- B.Ed. (preferred or as per school requirements).
- Prior teaching experience in primary grades is desirable.
- Proficiency in English communication.
