Job Summary
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for driving sales growth, managing distributors, expanding market coverage, and ensuring the availability and visibility of FMCG products within the assigned territory.
The role involves achieving sales targets, developing strong customer relationships, and leading field sales activities to maximize market share and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned area.
Develop and execute sales plans to increase revenue and market penetration.
Identify new business opportunities and expand distribution networks.
Monitor competitor activities, pricing, promotions, and market trends.
Distributor Management
Appoint, manage, and support distributors within the territory.
Ensure distributor profitability and operational efficiency.
Monitor stock levels and ensure product availability across all channels.
Review distributor performance and implement corrective actions when required.
Retail & Market Coverage
Ensure effective coverage of retail outlets, wholesalers, and key accounts.
Increase product visibility through merchandising and promotional activities.
Monitor product placement and execution of trade marketing initiatives.
Conduct regular market visits to assess business opportunities and challenges.
Team Management
Lead, coach, and motivate Sales Officers, Territory Sales Executives, and field staff.
Set performance goals and conduct regular reviews.
Provide training on product knowledge, sales techniques, and market development.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare sales forecasts and business reports.
Analyze sales performance, market share, and customer feedback.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend improvement strategies.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of sales reports.
Customer Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and key customers.
Resolve customer complaints and service issues promptly.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
