A Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality meals, managing kitchen operations, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
- Plan menus and develop new recipes
- Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks
- Monitor food preparation and presentation
- Maintain cleanliness and comply with food safety regulations
- Manage inventory, food costs, and kitchen supplies
- Ensure timely food service during busy periods
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
- Coordinate with restaurant management and suppliers
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a chef or cook
- Knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen equipment
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Creativity and attention to detail
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
Common Requirements
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience
- Food Handler or Safe Food certification (depending on location)
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
