A CCTV Technician installs, maintains, and repairs video surveillance systems to ensure optimal security. Core duties include conducting site surveys, wiring and mounting cameras, configuring DVR/NVR networks, and troubleshooting hardware or software issues. They also provide end-user training and regular system maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation: Perform cable laying, camera mounting, and the setup of monitors and recording devices.
- System Configuration: Configure IP cameras, network settings, and storage retention parameters for optimal video quality and retrieval.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical faults, connectivity issues, and hardware failures.
- Maintenance: Execute routine system health checks, firmware updates, and camera cleaning.
- Client Support: Provide training on how to use, monitor, and extract footage from the surveillance system.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma, supplemented by technical certifications in electronics, IT, or telecommunications.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of low-voltage wiring, IP networking, and video management software.
- Physical Capabilities: Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform physical work outdoors or on client sites.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, customer service, and attention to detail.
