Job Summary
The Lead Process Engineer will own the chemical and biological process design of the Bio-CNG plant from concept to commissioning. This includes analyzing feedstock chemistry, designing the mass/energy balance, and selecting the optimal gas-upgrading technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Feedstock Analysis: Evaluate various organic wastes (paddy straw, press mud, cow dung, food waste) and calculate theoretical biogas and methane yields.
- Mass & Energy Balance: Develop detailed Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for the entire plant.
- Digester Design: Determine digester volumes, organic loading rates (OLR), hydraulic retention time (HRT), and calculate heating/mixing requirements for Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactors (CSTR).
- Gas Purification Design: Size and specify gas upgrading systems (Water Scrubber, PSA, or Membrane separation) to achieve $>96\%$ Methane purity as per IS 16087 standards.
- By-product Management: Design systems for solid-liquid separation to produce high-quality Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) and liquid bio-fertilizers.
Key Technical Skills & Software
- Software: Aspen Plus / HYSYS, ChemCAD, or specialized Biogas simulation tools.
- Core Skills: Strong understanding of anaerobic digestion chemistry, stoichiometry, gas-liquid equilibrium, and desulfurization processes (H2S removal).
