The L2 Virtualization Support Engineer will be responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of virtualization infrastructure at customer locations and data centres. The candidate should possess strong hands-on experience in VMware, Hyper-V, and associated virtualization technologies, with the ability to resolve incidents, perform upgrades, and support infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Virtualization Administration
- Manage and support VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
- Perform VM provisioning, migration, cloning, and decommissioning.
- Monitor virtualization infrastructure performance and capacity.
- Configure and manage clusters, HA, DRS, and resource pools.
- Troubleshoot virtual machine, host, and storage-related issues.
Field Support Activities
- Visit customer locations for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with OEM vendors for hardware and software support.
- Perform health checks and preventive maintenance activities.
- Execute planned maintenance activities during non-business hours when required.
- Support infrastructure migration and upgrade projects.
Incident & Problem Management
- Analyze and resolve Level-2 incidents within agreed SLAs.
- Escalate critical issues to L3/OEM support teams when required.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues.
- Maintain incident and change records in ticketing systems.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Support backup solutions such as Veeam, Commvault, or NetBackup.
- Monitor backup jobs and resolve failures.
- Assist in DR drills and recovery testing.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain asset inventory and configuration records.
- Prepare technical reports, health check reports, and RCA documents.
- Update SOPs and operational documentation.

- 6 years of hands-on experience in virtualization administration.

- Experience in customer-facing field support roles.
