4. Main Objective of the Role
The Sales Manager will be responsible for generating new business enquiries, handling client communication, giving technical presentations, coordinating with proposal and design teams, closing orders, and increasing sales of new projects, AMC, retrofit work and spare parts in the water and wastewater treatment sector.
5. Key Responsibilities
A. Lead Generation
The Sales Manager should generate leads from different market segments such as:
- Builders and real estate projects
- Industries and factories
- Hospitals
- Hotels and resorts
- Commercial complexes
- Government and semi-government projects
- Consultants and architects
- MEP contractors
- Existing STP, ETP, WTP and RO plant users
Lead generation activities include:
- Cold calling
- Site visits
- Consultant visits
- Builder office visits
- Email marketing
- WhatsApp follow-ups
- LinkedIn and online enquiry tracking
- Tender portal checking
- RERA project tracking
- Reference generation from existing clients
- Follow-up of old enquiries and lost enquiries
B. Presentation and Client Meeting
The Sales Manager should be able to present the company professionally in front of clients, consultants and project teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Giving company introduction
- Explaining experience, installations and client list
- Presenting STP, ETP, WTP, RO, UF, MBR and MBBR technologies
- Explaining process flow diagrams and basic plant scheme
- Understanding client requirements during meetings
- Collecting site data, water analysis and design inputs
- Giving technical and commercial confidence to the client
- Arranging technical presentation with senior team whenever required
C. Enquiry Handling
After receiving enquiry, the Sales Manager should properly handle the enquiry from start to closure.
Important duties:
- Register enquiry in CRM / Excel tracker
- Understand project capacity, application and client requirement
- Collect water analysis report, layout, BOQ, tender document or consultant specification
- Coordinate with proposal/design department for offer preparation
- Share complete inputs with proposal team
- Follow up for quotation preparation
- Send techno-commercial offer to client
- Explain offer scope, exclusions and commercial terms
- Attend techno-commercial discussions
- Negotiate price and payment terms
- Close the order with proper documentation
D. Coordination with Internal Departments
The Sales Manager should coordinate with:
Proposal Department
- For BOQ, costing and offer preparation
- For revised quotation
- For technical clarification
Drawing Department
- For GA drawing, layout, P&ID and civil input drawing
- For approval drawings from client/consultant
Purchase Department
- For vendor pricing and bought-out item cost
- For pumps, blowers, membranes, panels, instruments, valves and media
Project / Execution Team
- For site readiness
- For delivery schedule
- For installation planning
Service Department
- For AMC, plant performance, spares requirement and client complaints
6. Spare Parts Sales Responsibility
The Sales Manager should also focus on spare parts and replacement business from existing and new customers.

- Activated carbon
- Sand, gravel, anthracite
- Dosing pumps
- Blowers
- Pumps
- Diffusers
- MBBR media
- Pressure gauges
- Flow meters

- PLC, VFD and panel items
- Online instruments
- pH, TDS, ORP and chlorine meters
- Motorized valves
- Air grid and diffuser pipes
Spare sales activities:
- Maintain list of installed plants
- Prepare spare requirement schedule
- Follow up before membrane/media replacement time
- Offer annual spare package
- Coordinate with service team for site requirement
- Generate revenue from old customers
- Maintain margin in spare parts sales
- Track pending spare quotations and repeat orders
7. AMC and Service Sales Responsibility
The Sales Manager should promote:
- Annual Maintenance Contract
- Operation & Maintenance contract
- Retro-fitting of old STP/ETP/WTP plants
- Upgradation of old plants
- Automation and panel modification
- Online monitoring system
- Plant performance improvement work
AMC sales responsibilities:
- Identify non-AMC clients
- Visit existing plants
- Check service history
- Offer AMC proposal
- Convert one-time service clients into AMC clients
- Coordinate with service team for costing and scope
- Follow up for renewal before contract expiry

11. Required Technical Knowledge
The Sales Manager should have basic understanding of:
- STP process: MBBR, SBR, MBR, ASP
- ETP process: equalization, coagulation, flocculation, clarifier, aeration
- WTP process: clarification, filtration, disinfection
- RO system: pretreatment, membranes, recovery, reject
- UF system: flux, backwash, CIP
- DM/softener system: resin, regeneration, hardness removal
- Basic water parameters: pH, TDS, TSS, BOD, COD, hardness, turbidity
- Basic equipment: pumps, blowers, dosing systems, filters, panels, instruments
- BOQ reading and tender understanding
