As a Principal Engineer in Clean Water Modelling, you will play a pivotal role in delivering AMP programme outcomes, helping clients optimise network performance, enhance resilience, and meet regulatory and customer service objectives.
Key duties include:
- Provide technical leadership in clean water network modelling across UK water utility projects.
- Lead development, calibration, and validation of hydraulic models for large-scale clean water distribution networks.
- Deliver modelling studies aligned with AMP programmes and regulatory performance requirements.
- Undertake and review:
- Demand forecasting and distribution input analysis
- Network capacity assessments and hydraulic performance evaluations
- Pressure management and operational optimisation studies
- Leakage analysis and reduction strategies
- Network resilience and outage scenario analysis
- Lead optioneering and system optimisation, including network reinforcement, rezoning, and operational improvements.
- Support development of:
- WRMP (Water Resource Management Plans) inputs
- Investment planning and business cases (e.g., PR submissions)
- Prepare and review technical reports, modelling documentation, and analysis outputs in line with UK water industry standards.
- Ensure modelling outputs align with regulatory frameworks (OFWAT, DWI, Environment Agency).
- Establish and enforce modelling standards, QA/QC processes, and best practices.
- Perform technical assurance reviews of models, data inputs, assumptions, and outputs.
- Engage with UK water company clients, supporting model reviews, technical workshops, and decision-making discussions.
- Identify data gaps, uncertainties, and risks; define strategies for improvement and mitigation.
- Mentor and guide engineers and modellers, supporting capability development within the team.
- Drive innovation through digital tools, automation, scripting, and data-driven workflows.
