Position Overview
The Design Lead will head engineering and design activities for utility-scale ground mount, rooftop, hybrid, and
BESS-integrated solar projects. The role demands strong technical expertise across electrical, civil, and
mechanical disciplines, combined with team leadership and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Lead complete electrical, civil & mechanical design of utility-scale solar PV projects
- Prepare and review SLDs, layout drawings, BOQ, and technical specifications
- Perform solar resource assessment, generation estimation, and equipment sizing (modules, inverters,
transformers, cables, protection)
- Review and approve vendor submissions against design specs and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with IEC, IS, CEA, and DISCOM/Utility regulations
- Review structural design — MMS, foundations, trackers — considering site conditions and wind loads
Team Management
- Manage and mentor design engineers across civil, electrical, and mechanical streams
- Allocate tasks, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of design packages
- Provide training and support for skill development within the team
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement, execution, and quality teams for practical, cost-effective designs
- Interface with Business Development, Site Survey, and Procurement for layout creation, material selection,
and cost optimization
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and statutory bodies for approvals
- Provide technical support during bidding, execution, and commissioning
Documentation & Standards
- Prepare Design Basis Reports (DBR), calculation sheets, and engineering documentation
- Maintain updated design templates, software tools, and standard practices
- Ensure quality control and peer review of all design deliverables
Required Skills & Competencies
- PVsyst, AutoCAD, PVCASE, STAAD, MS Office
- Electrical design — MV/LV systems, grid codes, protection, SCADA
- MMS structure design, pile foundations, and civil works
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Pay: Up to ₹1,000,000.00 per year
