Job Summary
The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for the overall management of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring the cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance, and aesthetic standards of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and hotel facilities. The role includes planning, organizing, staffing, training, budgeting, and supervising housekeeping operations to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Housekeeping Operations
- Oversee the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department.
- Ensure guest rooms, corridors, public areas, offices, and back-of-house areas are maintained to hotel standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of rooms and public areas.
- Coordinate room readiness with the Front Office Department.
- Ensure compliance with cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise housekeeping staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development.
- Ensure proper grooming, discipline, and adherence to hotel policies.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels to meet occupancy demands.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor and control housekeeping expenses and departmental budgets.
- Manage linen, uniforms, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, and equipment inventory.
- Coordinate with laundry operations for timely availability of linen and uniforms.
- Minimize wastage and ensure cost-effective utilization of resources.
Maintenance Coordination
- Report maintenance issues promptly and follow up with the Engineering Department.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed for housekeeping equipment.
- Coordinate refurbishment and deep-cleaning schedules.
Guest Service
- Handle guest requests, complaints, and special requirements promptly and professionally.
- Ensure VIP rooms and special arrangements are prepared according to hotel standards.
- Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction and service quality.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Implement and monitor housekeeping SOPs and quality standards.
- Participate in audits and inspections as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Hotel Management or Hospitality Management.
- Minimum 6–10 years of housekeeping experience, including at least 2–3 years as an Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Executive Housekeeper in a reputed hotel.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of housekeeping operations, laundry management, inventory control, and budgeting.
- Familiarity with hotel PMS and housekeeping management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Reports (To Be Done by EHK)
- Linen Report: Maintain and submit daily/weekly linen inventory, consumption, loss, damage, and laundry status reports.
- Check-In Report: Review and update room readiness status for arriving guests and coordinate with Front Office for timely room allocation.
- Check-Out Report: Monitor room cleaning status of departures, ensure timely turnaround of rooms, and submit occupancy and room status reports.
- Room Status Report: Prepare and submit daily reports on vacant, occupied, out-of-order, out-of-service, and inspected rooms.
- Lost & Found Report: Maintain accurate records of lost and found items, ensure proper documentation, storage, and timely reporting to management and Front Office.
Working Conditions
- Flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Frequent movement across guest floors, public areas, laundry, and operational departments.
- May be required to remain on-call for operational emergencies.
The Executive Housekeeper is expected to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest comfort while ensuring efficient departmental operations and team performance.
