Job Summary:
The Store Assistant is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining materials, consumables, and components required for production activities. The role ensures proper inventory control, material identification, and timely availability of materials to support manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming raw materials, bought-out parts, consumables, and verify quantity against purchase order, challan, and invoice.
- Check material condition and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the stores in-charge.
- Ensure proper material identification, tagging, and storage at designated locations.
- Issue materials to production as per authorized material requisition.
- Maintain inward, outward, and stock registers accurately.
- Assist in physical stock verification and cycle counting activities.
- Maintain FIFO practices where applicable.
- Ensure proper housekeeping, storage discipline, and safe material handling inside the store.
- Coordinate with purchase, production, quality, and dispatch departments for material movement.
- Maintain records of rejected, non-conforming, and returnable materials.
Required Qualifications
- HSC / ITI / Graduate preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in stores or inventory in an engineering/manufacturing company preferred.
- Freshers may also be considered for junior-level roles.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of store operations and inventory control.
- Familiarity with inward/outward documentation.
- Basic computer knowledge (Excel).
- Ability to identify materials by part number, description, or code.
- Attention to detail and record accuracy.
- Good coordination with internal departments.
