We are looking for an experienced Landscape Architect to join us as Design Lead — the creative and technical backbone of our design department. This is not a back-office drafting role. You will be the face of Vertvista’s design capability — working directly with clients, collaborating with external architects and PMCs, and leading the entire design lifecycle from concept to construction-ready drawings.
You will guide a junior designer, set design standards for the company, and ensure every project we deliver reflects the highest standards of biophilic design. You will also be instrumental in growing our landscape consultancy vertical — a new, high-margin business line targeting real estate developers, tech parks, and SEZs.
1. Design Leadership & Execution
- Lead the complete design process from initial concept to final construction-ready documentation for all project types — indoor biophilic installations, outdoor landscaping, green walls, corporate campus landscapes, and rooftop gardens.
- Create and oversee master plans, detailed landscape drawings, planting plans, hardscape layouts, irrigation schematics, and sectional details.
- Prepare and present high-quality design presentations, mood boards, and 3D visualizations for client approvals.
- Develop BOQs (Bills of Quantities) in coordination with the projects and procurement teams, ensuring accuracy and cost alignment.
- Set and maintain design standards, templates, and a reusable asset library (plant palettes, planter specifications, material schedules) for the department.
2. Client-Facing Communication
- Act as the primary design point of contact for clients — from the first site survey and concept presentation through design iterations to final sign-off.
- Represent Vertvista in all design-related meetings with external architects, interior designers, PMCs (Project Management Consultants), and landscape consultants.
- Translate client briefs, architect intent, and site constraints into practical, beautiful, and executable biophilic design solutions.

- Build and nurture professional relationships with architect firms, real estate developers, and design consultancies to position Vertvista as a preferred design partner.
- Present design proposals confidently in boardroom settings to senior client stakeholders, including C-suite and facilities leadership.
3. Design Support to Projects & Pre-Sales
- Provide design support to the projects team during execution — resolving on-site design conflicts, material substitutions, and unforeseen spatial challenges.
- Support the sales/BD team with design inputs for proposals, quotations, and client presentations during the pre-sales stage.
- Conduct site surveys and feasibility assessments for new project opportunities.
- Collaborate with the procurement team on material specifications, plant species selection, and vendor evaluation for design-critical items.
4. Team Mentorship & Department Building
- Directly guide and mentor the junior designer — reviewing their work, training them on AutoCAD/design standards, and progressively delegating appropriate tasks.
- Establish a structured design review process to ensure quality control before any design output reaches the client.
- Help recruit and evaluate future design team members as the department scales.
- Introduce and champion the use of AI-powered design tools (Midjourney, DALL-E, SketchUp AI plugins, Canva AI) to accelerate visualization and presentation output.
5. Landscape Consultancy
- Lead design for the company’s growing landscape consultancy offering — working with real estate developers, tech parks, SEZs, and hospitality clients on campus-level master planning.
- Develop landscape design proposals independently for consultancy projects (concept to tender documentation).
- Build a portfolio of landscape consultancy case studies to support business development efforts.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from a recognized institution (CEPT, SPA Delhi/Bhopal, School of Environment and Architecture, JJ College of Architecture, or ISOLA-accredited programs).
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience in landscape architecture, with at least 2–3 years in a lead/senior design role.
- Portfolio demonstrating completed landscape and/or biophilic design projects across diverse typologies (corporate, hospitality, residential, public spaces).
Technical Skills
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory — the primary design tool for the team).
- Strong skills in SketchUp and/or 3D visualization tools for client presentations.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for presentation and proposal creation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint for formal client presentations.
- Knowledge of plant species (tropical and subtropical), planting design principles, hardscape materials, and irrigation basics.
- Ability to prepare accurate BOQs and cost estimates in coordination with the projects team.
- Familiarity with green building certifications (IGBC, LEED, GRIHA) and ESG/sustainability frameworks is a strong plus.
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Excellent English communication — both written (emails, proposals) and verbal (client meetings, presentations). This is non-negotiable as you will be the company’s design voice.
- Confident, professional, and composed in client-facing situations — comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and defending design decisions.
