Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor engine room machinery and mechanical equipment; report abnormalities to appropriate shipboard personnel.
- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical systems including engines, pumps, winches, compressors, cranes, and hydraulic systems onboard vessels.
- Perform operation, preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and servicing of:Deep Sea Winch (DSW), Hydraulic Power Units (HPU), Cranes & Compressors, Oceanographic research equipment
- Conduct scheduled daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly maintenance and update maintenance logs.
- Support winch-side operations for CTD, ROV, SAMS, seismic, and other survey equipment.
- Assist in installation, commissioning, repair, and calibration in coordination with clients and OEM representatives.
- Supervise and guide marine engine technicians during maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure proper upkeep, cleaning, assembling of equipment and assist in sediment sampling operations when required.
- Prepare and submit technical service reports, daily reports, maintenance records, and spares/consumables statements on time.
- Prepare handing over / taking over reports duly signed during crew change.
- Escalate customer complaints or critical technical issues to management.
- Undertake workshop assignments during onshore periods.
- Maintain discipline and strictly adhere to onboard safety regulations as per Captain / Senior Officers / Client guidelines
Essentials:
- Hands-on troubleshooting of complex mechanical equipment
- Experience in installation, commissioning, and servicing of marine mechanical systems
- Knowledge of marine navigation systems (Radar, Gyrocompass, Autopilot, VDR, GMDSS) is an added advantage
- Physically fit to lift 20–25 kg
- Comfortable working at heights and confined spaces
- Willingness to work offshore and in all weather conditions
Work Experience
Minmum 3+ years of relevantexp in mechanical industry, offshore or marine services experience in:
- Mechanical systems
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems
- Marine vessel machinery
