Role & Responsibilities
The Junior Advocate will work on active litigation matters and will be expected to independently handle assigned work under the guidance of senior advocates.
Key responsibilities include:
- Legal drafting of petitions, applications, replies, rejoinders, written statements, legal notices, written submissions and other court documents.
- Legal research on case laws, statutes and procedural issues.
- Attending matters before District Courts, High Court, Tribunals and other judicial/quasi-judicial forums as assigned.
- Court appearances, taking dates and properly recording court proceedings and directions.
- Filing, e-filing, scrutiny, removal of objections/defects and follow-up with court registries.
- Preparing case briefs, synopsis, list of dates and events, case notes and hearing notes.
- Maintaining and updating case files, next dates, pending tasks and limitation/deadline requirements.
- Coordinating with clients, clerks, court staff and other advocates whenever required.
- Ensuring that assigned drafting and filing work is completed within prescribed deadlines.
- Reporting the status of assigned matters and pending work on a regular basis.
- Taking responsibility for matters and tasks specifically assigned to the advocate.
Candidate Requirements
- LL.B. degree from a recognised university.
- Enrolment with the Bar Council preferred/required for candidates handling court appearances.
- 0–3 years of litigation experience.
- Good command over written and spoken English and Hindi.
- Good legal drafting and research skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, PDF documents, e-filing and online legal research.
- Willingness to attend courts in Delhi/NCR and undertake filing and other litigation-related work.
- Ability to work with deadlines and handle urgent court matters.
- Candidates should be punctual, responsible and comfortable working in a professional litigation environment.
