Accountant – Job Description

Job Summary:
* The Accountant is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, preparing financial statements, managing audits, and supporting management with financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Accounting & Reporting
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
* Maintain accurate general ledger and accounting records.
* Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger balances.
* Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
* Prepare management reports and financial analyses.
Accounts Management
* Monitor Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
* Verify invoices, payments, and expense claims.
* Manage cash flow and bank reconciliations.
* Ensure proper accounting of fixed assets and depreciation.
Taxation & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, ESI, and other statutory regulations.
* Prepare and file tax returns and statutory reports.
* Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
* Keep updated with changes in accounting standards and tax laws.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
* Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
* Analyze financial performance and variance reports.
* Provide recommendations for cost control and profitability improvement.
* Support management decision-making through financial insights.
Audit & Internal Controls
* Coordinate internal and external audits.
* Implement and monitor internal control procedures.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
* Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
* Team Leadership
* Supervise junior accountants and accounting staff.
* Review accounting work for accuracy and completeness.
* Provide guidance and training to team members.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
* CA Inter / CMA / MBA Finance preferred.
* 2- 5 years of accounting and finance experience.
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
* Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally, Zoho Books, etc.).
