A machine fitter (or mechanical fitter) assembles, installs, and maintains heavy industrial machinery and equipment. They read blueprints, use hand and power tools to fabricate or adjust parts, and diagnose mechanical faults. This role ensures all moving parts operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly & Installation: Fit and assemble prefabricated metal parts to build heavy industrial machinery. Align subassemblies and install major components like gears, motors, pumps, and hydraulic systems using lifting devices.
- Maintenance & Repair: Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs. Replace worn-out components (bearings, shafts, valves) to avoid sudden equipment failures.
- Testing & Diagnostics: Conduct diagnostic testing and use precision measuring instruments to identify the root cause of equipment malfunctions.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date work logs and safety audits.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completed apprenticeship or vocational training (such as an ITI in Mechanical/Fitting) preferred.
- Experience: 2–5 years of proven experience in mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, or a similar trade role.
- Technical Skills: Advanced ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Physical Requirements: Strong physical stamina, manual dexterity, and the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, and work in restrictive or noisy environments.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
