Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Executive to handle procurement activities for our chemical manufacturing operations. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, chemicals, packaging materials, engineering items, spare parts, consumables and other required materials while ensuring optimum quality, competitive pricing and timely delivery.
The candidate should have good knowledge of chemical industry procurement, vendor management, purchase processes, rate negotiation, auction/e-auction activities and procurement documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day purchase and procurement activities for the chemical manufacturing plant.
- Source raw materials, chemicals, solvents, packaging materials, spare parts, consumables, engineering materials and other plant requirements.
- Identify, evaluate and develop new vendors and suppliers.
- Obtain quotations from multiple suppliers and prepare comparative statements for management approval.
- Negotiate price, payment terms, credit period, delivery schedule, quality specifications and transportation costs with vendors.
- Have knowledge of and participate in auction/e-auction, reverse auction and online procurement processes wherever applicable.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding auction participation, quotation submission and commercial negotiations.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) as per approved requirements.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials according to production requirements.
- Follow up with suppliers for pending orders, dispatches and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, QC, Maintenance, Accounts and Logistics departments for procurement requirements.
- Verify vendor quotations, specifications, taxes, freight and other commercial terms before placing orders.
- Maintain proper records of purchase orders, quotations, comparative statements, vendor details and invoices.
- Monitor market prices and maintain updated knowledge of chemical/raw material pricing and supplier availability.
- Assist in vendor evaluation based on price, quality, delivery performance and service.
- Resolve issues related to delayed delivery, material shortages, quality discrepancies and commercial matters.
- Ensure procurement is carried out as per company policies, approved budgets and authorization procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of vendor rates, commercial terms and company purchase information.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives through competitive sourcing, negotiation and alternate vendor development.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of purchase and procurement procedures.
- Knowledge of chemical raw materials and industrial chemicals will be preferred.
- Knowledge of auction/e-auction/reverse auction procedures.
- Good negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of Purchase Orders, RFQ, quotation comparison and commercial evaluation.
- Good understanding of GST, freight, payment terms and other basic commercial terms.
- Knowledge of ERP/software for purchase and inventory management.
- Good MS Excel and documentation skills.
- Strong follow-up and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet urgent plant requirements.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualification
Graduate in any discipline; Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Commerce, Engineering or a related field will be an advantage.
Preferred Experience
- 3 to 8 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement.
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing company or industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Candidates having experience in chemical/raw material procurement, vendor development, negotiation and e-auction will be given preference.

Pay: ₹22,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
