Job Title - Fitter – Fabrication & Motor Maintenance

Job Summary
The Fitter is responsible for carrying out fabrication, installation, assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment, structures, and electric motors. The role involves preventive and breakdown maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining safety standards within the plant.
Key ResponsibilitiesFabrication Work
- Carry out fabrication, cutting, grinding, drilling, welding support, and assembly of MS, SS, and structural components.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, sketches, and technical specifications.
- Measure, mark, cut, and fit materials accurately as per design requirements.
- Fabricate machine guards, platforms, supports, conveyors, pipelines, and other plant structures.
- Install fabricated components and perform alignment during installation.
- Maintain fabrication tools, machines, and equipment in good working condition.
Motor Handling & Mechanical Maintenance
- Install, dismantle, assemble, and align AC/DC electric motors.
- Perform motor replacement, coupling alignment, and bearing replacement.
- Handle gearbox, pumps, blowers, conveyors, and other rotating equipment.
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of motors and mechanical systems.
- Identify mechanical faults and perform necessary repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Lubricate machinery and replace worn-out mechanical parts as required.
- Assist in motor testing and commissioning after maintenance.
Preventive Maintenance
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules as per maintenance plans.
- Record maintenance activities in maintenance logs and checklists.
- Monitor machine condition and report abnormalities to the Maintenance Engineer.
- Ensure proper housekeeping in the maintenance workshop and production areas.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all plant safety procedures, PPE requirements, and permit-to-work systems.
- Ensure safe lifting and handling of motors and heavy equipment.
- Comply with 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and company maintenance standards.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately.
Required Qualifications
- ITI – Fitter (Mandatory)
- Additional certification in Welding/Fabrication will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in fabrication and mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing industry.
- Experience in handling electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and fabrication works.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing, recycling, packaging, or process industries is preferred.
