Role Description
We invite applications for the position of Visiting Faculty – Linear Algebra for the B.Sc. Data Science program at our Mumbai campus located at Patkar Varde College, Goregaon West.
Linear Algebra forms the mathematical foundation of modern Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Data Analytics. The selected faculty member will be responsible for developing strong conceptual understanding among students while demonstrating how mathematical concepts are applied in real-world analytical and computational systems.
The ideal candidate should possess substantial industry experience in Data Science, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Quantitative Research, Engineering, or related domains and be capable of connecting mathematical theory with practical applications through industry examples, problem-solving sessions, case studies, and project-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Delivery
- Deliver engaging lectures and interactive problem-solving sessions in Linear Algebra.
- Teach core concepts including vectors, matrices, systems of linear equations, matrix operations, determinants, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, vector spaces, and linear transformations.
- Build strong mathematical intuition and analytical thinking among students.
- Demonstrate how Linear Algebra is applied in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Computer Graphics, and optimization problems.
- Develop and maintain course content, assignments, exercises, and assessment materials aligned with academic and industry expectations.
- Conduct tutorials and practical sessions using real-world datasets and computational examples where appropriate.
Academic Responsibilities
- Support internal assessments, examinations, and project evaluations.
- Coordinate with the Academic Team to ensure timely syllabus completion.
- Maintain academic standards and student engagement throughout the semester.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve student understanding and performance.
Industry Integration
- Connect mathematical concepts with real-world applications in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
- Share industry best practices, case studies, tools, and project experiences relevant to quantitative problem solving.
- Demonstrate how matrices and vector operations are used in recommendation systems, machine learning models, image processing, natural language processing, and analytics platforms.
- Stay updated with advancements in AI, Data Science, and computational mathematics.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related discipline.
- Strong conceptual expertise in Linear Algebra and Applied Mathematics.
- Experience applying mathematical concepts in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Analytics, Engineering, Finance, or related domains.
- Ability to connect mathematical theory with practical applications and computational techniques.
- Familiarity with tools such as Python, NumPy, MATLAB, R, or similar analytical platforms is preferred.
- Prior teaching, mentoring, corporate training, or technical coaching experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and intuitively to undergraduate students.
Experience (Preferred)
- 3+ years of industry experience in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Analytics, Quantitative Research, Engineering, Finance, Operations Research, or related domains with strong exposure to Linear Algebra applications.
- Experience working on live analytical, machine learning, optimization, or computational projects.
- Prior teaching, mentoring, or corporate training experience preferred.
- Experience guiding students, analysts, engineers, or junior professionals will be an added advantage.
