Job Description: Production Intern
Position SummaryThe Medical Electronics Manufacturing Intern blends precision electro-mechanical assembly with electrical engineering support. You will build, wire, and test complex medical systems or diagnostic equipment under strict regulatory standards. This role focuses on ESD safety, electrical compliance, and learning medical device quality control.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Assembly & Testing
- Wire and solder printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), wire harnesses, and connectors.
- Assemble electro-mechanical systems such as patient monitors, imaging parts, or diagnostic devices.
- Perform electrical testing using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and automated test equipment (ATE). [1, 2]
Engineering & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot circuit failures down to the component level when boards fail testing.
- Follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist electrical engineers with prototype testing, component sourcing, and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) reviews. [1, 2]
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Adhere to ESD controls (Electrostatic Discharge) to prevent damage to sensitive medical electronics.
- Document test results in Device History Records (DHR) to ensure full FDA and ISO 13485 traceability.
- Inspect solder joints to IPC-A-610 standards to guarantee zero-defect production.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering (with an electronics focus).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in soldering, reading electrical schematics, and using basic lab equipment (multimeters, power supplies).
- Familiarity: Basic knowledge of ESD safety protocols, IPC soldering standards, or Altium/Eagle CAD tools is a plus.
- Attributes: High level of precision, strong analytical troubleshooting skills, and strict adherence to safety procedures.
