Job Summary
The English HOD will lead the English Department by ensuring high academic standards, effective curriculum delivery, and excellent board examination results. The role involves academic planning, mentoring teachers, monitoring classroom practices, and fostering strong communication and language skills among students in alignment with CBSE guidelines.
Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership
- Lead and manage the English Department across all grades.
- Prepare annual academic plans, lesson plans, and assessment schedules in line with CBSE norms.
- Ensure effective implementation of the CBSE curriculum and pedagogical practices.
- Monitor syllabus completion and academic quality standards.
Board Examination Management
- Handle Grade X and/or Grade XII CBSE Board Examination preparation effectively.
- Design board-oriented worksheets, question papers, revision plans, and mock assessments.
- Analyze student performance and implement improvement strategies for board results.
- Guide teachers and students on CBSE pattern changes, competency-based questions, and evaluation criteria.
Teacher Mentoring & Coordination
- Mentor and support English teachers in lesson delivery and classroom management.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and academic reviews.
- Observe classroom teaching and provide constructive feedback.
- Support teacher training, workshops, and professional development initiatives.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Review question papers, notebooks, answer scripts, and assessment practices.
- Ensure timely conduct of examinations and submission of reports.
- Maintain assessment records and academic documentation accurately.
Student Development
- Encourage reading habits, creative writing, public speaking, debates, and literary activities.
- Identify students requiring academic support and implement remedial measures.
- Promote effective communication skills and language enrichment programs.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Coordinate with school leadership regarding academic planning and departmental requirements.
- Maintain departmental records, reports, and teaching resources.
- Participate in school events, parent meetings, inspections, and academic audits.
