The Nutanix Resident Engineer (RE) is responsible for providing on-site or remote operational support, administration, and optimization of the customer’s Nutanix infrastructure. The role ensures high availability, performance, and reliability of the environment.
- Manage and administer Nutanix clusters using Prism (Element & Central)
- Support hypervisors: AHV / VMware ESXi / Hyper-V
- Perform VM lifecycle management (provisioning, migration, decommissioning)
- Monitor cluster health, storage, and performance
- Provide L2/L3 support for Nutanix infrastructure
- Troubleshoot cluster, storage, and network issues
- Work closely with Nutanix support for critical incidents
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and incident reporting
- Plan and execute upgrades (AOS, firmware, hypervisor)
- Perform patching and security updates
- Conduct regular health checks and audits
- Capacity planning and performance tuning
- Automate routine tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Python)
- Optimize storage policies, snapshots, and replication
- Implement best practices for performance and cost efficiency
- Manage DR solutions (Leap, Metro, or third-party tools)
- Configure and test backup and recovery processes
- Participate in DR drills and ensure compliance
- Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and architecture documents
- Provide weekly/monthly status reports
- Track incidents, changes, and problem records
- Act as primary technical SPOC for Nutanix platform
- Participate in change management and CAB meetings
- Coordinate with network, security, and application teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Nutanix Certified Professional, VMware Certified Professional)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in managing Nutanix infrastructure or similar environments
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies and storage solutions
