As part of GE Vernova – Power Conversion & Storage, the Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for driving supplier quality compliance, development, and performance across Power Conversion Product and Project portfolios. This role will lead supplier qualification, audits, part development, process validation, and continuous improvement activities to ensure suppliers meet technical, quality, delivery, and capacity requirements. The position partners closely with Sourcing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to mitigate risk, support new product and part qualification, and improve supplier performance across assigned mechanical commodities.
Job Description:
- Provide leadership to drive growth in business cooperation between GE and supplier base.
- Drive supplier quality performance by implementing quality plans, monitoring results, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
- Lead supplier selection and qualification processes, evaluating capabilities, quality systems, and operational readiness. Auditing suppliers for EHS / QMS / Process / Product & Capacity
- Assist in the supplier approval process including manufacturing, technology, and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) risk analysis
- Plan and execute supplier audits, ensuring compliance with quality requirements and developing corrective action and continuous improvement plans where necessary.
- Own supplier performance metrics and scorecards, identifying improvement opportunities and partnering with suppliers to achieve SQDC.
- Apply a strong understanding of business drivers and operational objectives to support quality and supply chain performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and operations teams to align supplier quality initiatives with business goals.
- Understand how team objectives integrate with broader organizational functions and contribute to overall business success.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data analysis, root-cause investigation, and preventive actions to enhance supplier performance and product quality
- Act as the technical focal point for supplier activities directed toward process control and quality assurance of business components.
- Establish a structured approach for consistency and adherence to quality procedures and requirements .
- Work closely with various divisions of Infrastructure businesses to conduct First Piece Qualification (FPQ), quality surveillance, and capacity audit
- Developing parts with supplier against Print & Spec
- Qualifying Parts with all applicable standards for the specific parts
- Rating the supplier with all parameters applicable (Quality / Delivery / Response / Timely closure / Technology update / infrastructure / continuous improvement)
- NC Management
- Analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions
- Daily / Weekly / monthly / yearly data to be maintained for all metrics
- Driving the supplier to follow the standard works for all the processes
- ECN Management / Revision Cut-in
- Work with 3rd party labs for Type tests with applicable standards
- To develop and qualify all mechanical commodities like Heavy fabrications / Busbars / Insulators / Sheet metal / Casting Parts / Injection molding parts/ Heat sinks / Fasteners / Gas Spring / Gasket / Heat Exchanger / Machined Parts.
- Guide and validate the process like Welding/ Painting / Heavy fabrications / Sheet metal Fabrication / Bending / Laser Cutting / Punching / CNC and VMC Machining / Assembly.
- Review the Engg drawings and Specifications to perform the development.
- Process improvement, productivity improvement & yield improvement at supplier place
- Communicating the validated information to stake holders at right time.
- Presenting the Metrics / COF / RCA to Global team
