We are seeking an experienced Principal Coal Analyst to join our Bulks Research team, sitting within the broader Metals and Mining Research unit. This position is based in India, with flexibility to be located in either Mumbai or Gurugram, and forms part of a globally respected team of industry experts.
The Bulks team delivers comprehensive research across global coal markets and assets, covering supply and demand dynamics, price forecasting, cost benchmarking and operational risk. Our work helps clients navigate a rapidly evolving energy and commodities landscape, equipping them with the insight needed to make sound commercial and strategic decisions. In this role, you will take primary responsibility for thermal coal markets and asset coverage across Asia Pacific and Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to a team of analysts and subject matter experts delivering market-leading research on the thermal coal sector.
Build and maintain detailed asset models, drawing on a strong understanding of the underlying metrics that drive them. Develop informed perspectives on corporate strategy, project economics, business environment and government mining policy.
Apply strong analytical capabilities to produce rigorous market analysis, including supply and demand assessments, price forecasts and thought leadership that addresses the key issues shaping the thermal coal sector.
Cultivate strong relationships with clients and the broader natural resources community, using those connections to gather timely intelligence and enhance the quality and relevance of our research.
Act as a trusted expert for clients and media, working closely with sales and consulting colleagues to present data-driven views on coal markets, and demonstrating the value our insights bring to client decision-making.
Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to modernise workflows, strengthen decision-making processes and improve research capabilities at scale.
Prioritise effectively across competing demands, maintaining regular engagement with senior business stakeholders.
Champion an open, innovative and collaborative team culture, embracing new tools and methodologies to improve data processes, and identifying opportunities to generate new research, sales and consulting outcomes.
