Udayan Ghar provides family-like residential care to children in need of care and protection under the Juvenile Justice Act. Our homes offer a safe, nurturing environment where children receive quality education, healthcare, emotional support, life skills, and mentorship to help them become independent and responsible individuals.
Role Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, committed, and proactive Child Welfare Officer to ensure the holistic care, protection, rehabilitation, and development of children residing in our Child Care Institution. The role requires close coordination with government authorities, schools, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders while ensuring compliance with child protection laws and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct case history assessments and prepare Individual Care Plans (ICPs) for every child.
- Ensure rehabilitation, restoration, de-institutionalization, and transition of children to aftercare.
- Maintain statutory records and ensure compliance with the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
- Monitor children's physical health, mental health, education, and overall development.
- Coordinate with Child Welfare Committees (CWC), police, hospitals, schools, courts, and government authorities.
- Maintain case files, legal documentation, and progress reports.
- Conduct regular case reviews and monitor rehabilitation outcomes.
- Organize life skills, awareness, and capacity-building sessions for children and staff.
- Support donor reporting and preparation of funding proposals.
- Assist in budgeting, documentation, and renewal of statutory licenses.
- Ensure adherence to Udayan Care's Child Protection, Safeguarding, and Code of Conduct policies.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW), Sociology, Psychology, Education, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in child protection, social work, or the NGO/development sector.
- Sound knowledge of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015, POCSO Act, and child protection mechanisms.
- Understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and residential childcare.
- Strong communication, documentation, report writing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
