Description
Get ready for a career at the leading edge of the airline industry! Our Flight Operations team works hard to connect people and unite the world safely, reliably and efficiently every single day. From industry leadership and pioneering technologies to next-level training, our Flight Ops team hires, trains, qualifies and supports the best pilots in the industry. The moments we share in the air and on the ground with our customers and our colleagues make United a special place to work and a great way to fly together.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Flight Operations Performance & Analytics team delivers the reporting, analytics, and ad-hoc analysis that shape how United runs its pilot operation. Our work drives reliability and efficiency across the network, spanning delays and cancellations, reserve staffing, training scheduling, and irregular operations. If you want your analysis to influence decisions that move thousands of flights and crew members every day, this is where that happens.
The team builds the reporting and analysis capability that turns operational blind spots into clear, actionable visibility — so resources get directed where they matter most. That work translates directly into cost savings: fewer delays and cancellations, sharper reserve staffing, balanced flying levels, more efficient trip builds, and stronger long-term staffing and training plans. From data reporting and new tool development to KPI design, dashboard creation, and automation, the team equips Flight Operations leaders with what they need to decide faster and better.
The Analyst owns data reports, dashboard creation, and automation, the tools Flight Ops leadership relies on for day-to-day, data-driven decisions. This role creates visibility into the issues that shape the operation: delays and cancellations, open time, reserve staffing, and sick leave. Beyond surfacing what's happening, the Analyst digs into why - diagnosing root causes, spotting problems and opportunities early, and turning that analysis into better operational performance and lower costs.
Support FOPS leadership with day-to-day and monthly analytics and reporting, plus ad-hoc data mining and analysis
Analyze the performance of United's crew operations — reserve utilization, reassignments, open time, and pairing efficiency — and translate findings into recommendations leadership can act on
Define and maintain KPIs and metric logic, ensuring definitions stay consistent and defensible as business rules evolve
Build high-quality dashboards, tools, decks, and reports for FOPS leadership, the eTeam, front-line management, and business teams across the organization
Design automated reporting and data workflows that scale, and strengthen existing pipelines for speed and reliability
Work directly with Flight Ops business partners to scope requirements, validate logic, and land solutions that get used
Review performance data to confirm experiments, new tools, and processes are on target and delivering real business value
Apply AI tools (Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity) to accelerate analysis, documentation, and day-to-day delivery
