Job Summary
The Furnace Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance, inspection the furnace standards, troubleshooting, and repair of gas furnaces and associated equipment. The role focuses on ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient furnace operations while minimizing downtime through preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preventive and predictive maintenance of gas furnaces.
- Perform routine inspections of burners, combustion systems, refractory linings, Mesh conveyors, thermocouples, temperature controllers, and furnace accessories.
- Support troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues related to furnace systems.
- Monitor furnace operating parameters and report abnormalities.
- Coordinate with production teams to plan maintenance activities with minimal disruption.
- Support spare parts identification, inventory management, and procurement planning.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Work with engineers and external service providers during major maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or ITI fitter
- 0–3 years of experience in furnace maintenance.
Preferred Skills
- Basic knowledge of industrial furnaces, heat treatment processes, and combustion systems.
- Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with temperature control systems.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all plant safety rules and permit-to-work procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during maintenance activities.
- Adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before maintenance work.
