About the Role
We are looking for a Sourcing Merchant to join our sourcing team at MADAME. The role will be responsible for vendor sourcing, product development, price negotiation, sampling, and ensuring timely execution of styles as per the brand’s requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new vendors/suppliers for fabrics, trims, accessories, and finished garments.
- Handle end-to-end sourcing activities from vendor identification to final production.
- Coordinate with vendors for sampling, product development, costing, and production timelines.
- Source fabrics and trims as per design, quality, price, and delivery requirements.
- Negotiate with vendors on price, MOQ, payment terms, lead time, and quality.
- Prepare and evaluate cost sheets and ensure products are developed within target costing.
- Follow up on samples, approvals, production status, and deliveries.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors and develop new vendor networks.
- Conduct vendor comparison and support vendor selection based on quality, price, capacity, and delivery performance.
- Coordinate with Design, Merchandising, Production, Quality, and Purchase teams for smooth execution.
- Monitor market trends, new fabrics, trims, techniques, and sourcing opportunities.
- Ensure timely availability of materials and products as per the planned T&A (Time & Action) calendar.
- Maintain proper records of vendors, prices, samples, and sourcing activities.
- Resolve sourcing-related issues and ensure timely corrective actions.
Candidate Profile
- 2–4 years of experience in Sourcing / Buying / Merchandising, preferably in the women’s fashion/apparel industry.
- Strong knowledge of fabric, trims, garments, and vendor sourcing.
- Good understanding of costing and price negotiation.
- Experience in vendor management and product development.
- Strong follow-up, coordination, and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of apparel manufacturing and sourcing processes.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
- Candidates with experience in Ludhiana/garment sourcing markets will be preferred.
