About the role:
The Producer is the key owner and liaison for all functional areas of project management and engages on projects through content planning, content creation, author management/relations, production, rights and permissions, customer acceptance, and content archiving.
The Content Producer executes on the delivery of all assigned program components and project tasks over the entire program lifecycle (initiate, plan, build, execute, control, release). The Producer is accountable to deliver high quality, commercially successful print and/or digital programs on time and within budget.
High Level Responsibilities:
Manage the execution of content development and production plans for Math, Statistics, Engineering, and Computer Science titles (both print and digital) to deliver high quality, commercially successful product families on time and within budget.
Manage a select number of print and digital projects, which may range from low to high in complexity, including the following:
printed textbooks, covers, and supplements
ebooks developed in Pearson’s Bronte/CITE toolset
digital supplements (e.g. PowerPoint lecture slides, HTML animations)
digital-first products, such as REVEL or MyLab online courses
Manage author relationships and hire/manage other content creators.
Manage multiple vendors and subject matter experts, providing feedback as necessary.
Monitor rights and permissions and work with content providers to remediate rights issues and resolves editorial questions during content creation and production.
Proactively utilize and apply knowledge of editorial process, print/digital product workflows, and production processes, ensuring adherence to Pearson standards & requirements.
Ensure that appropriate content structure, enrichment standards, and accessibility standards are applied consistently throughout the content development and production process.
Communicate project status and dependencies to appropriate team members, including the Managing Producer or Director.
Work with other parts of the organization as necessary to ensure support in attaining output, quality, and productivity.

Engage in analytical and pragmatic problem solving, driving innovative changes and improvements to the project planning, development, and delivery process. Resolve questions and problems independently, while escalating critical issues to appropriate colleagues and/or direct manager.
Learn and apply new technologies quickly to enhance customer experience, increase productivity, and reduce time to market.
Establish and carry a vision with regard to project delivery objectives, providing necessary guidance and support to team members and taking highly active ownership of all project phases.
Successfully manage multiple projects and project components with inter-related assets and timing dependencies.
Provide clear, timely, and appropriate written and verbal communication to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications & Technical Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years of project management experience
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office & Project, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, & Photoshop, and basic HTML/XML/CSS coding
Prior experience in publishing, with thorough working knowledge of industry standards
Basic understanding of rights and permissions process
Experience with transition from print to digital publishing
Experience working with onshore and offshore vendors
