Job Title: Land Freight SpecialistLocation: MangaloreJob SummaryThe Land Freight Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing domestic and cross-border land transportation (road and rail). The role ensures cost-effective, compliant, and timely movement of goods while maintaining strong relationships with carriers, customers, and internal teams.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and manage end-to-end land freight operations (FTL, LTL, groupage, intermodal, rail where applicable)Coordinate shipments, schedules, routes, and carrier allocationNegotiate rates and service agreements with trucking and rail providersMonitor shipments, resolve delays, and manage exceptions proactivelyEnsure compliance with transport regulations, customs requirements, and safety standardsPrepare and verify transport documentation (CMR, delivery notes, customs paperwork, etc.)Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and carrier performanceCollaborate with sales, warehouse, and customer service teamsProvide accurate freight quotations and cost analysisHandle claims related to loss, damage, or delaysRequired Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of land freight operations and transport regulationsExperience with domestic and international road transportNegotiation and vendor management skillsProblem-solving mindset and ability to work under pressureExcellent organizational and time-management skillsClear communication skills (written and verbal)Proficiency in TMS, ERP systems, and MS ExcelCustomer-focused approachQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred)1–2 years of experience in land freight or logistics operationsKnowledge of Incoterms and customs procedures is an advantageMultilingual skills are a plus (depending on region)Work EnvironmentOffice-based or hybrid, with frequent coordination with carriers and partnersMay require occasional after-hours support for urgent shipments
