Job Description

The M&E / Data Lead, EMBRACE Secretariat will be responsible for leading the programme monitoring, data management, and reporting across EMBRACE partners. The role focuses on ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent data entry and reporting through project sponsor(s)’s Power BI platform and other agreed monitoring frameworks.
Working closely with project sponsor(s)’s point of contact, AVPN internal teams, and grantee partners, the M&E / Data Lead will consolidate partner reports, track progress against agreed indicators, and support the Secretariat in meeting reporting requirements. This role requires strong data management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple implementing partners.
EMBRACE (Empowering Mothers with Birth Readiness, Agency, and Care) is a five-year programme by AVPN that aims to improve Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Nutrition Health (MNCHN) outcomes by reducing the incidence of low birth weight across 10 high-burden states in India. The programme supports state and district governments, as well as government agencies, by providing technical assistance to improve the quality and coverage of maternal nutrition, home-based newborn and child care (HBNCC), and technological innovations. The EMBRACE Secretariat plays a central role in coordinating partners, managing sub-grants, ensuring alignment with government priorities, and maintaining effective engagement with the programme funder.

Responsibilities

Oversee and lead data collection in the program monitoring frameworks (e.g Power BI).

Ensure data is entered accurately, consistently, and in line with agreed indicator definitions, reporting formats, and timelines.

Conduct routine data quality checks to identify inconsistencies, gaps, or errors and follow up with partners to resolve issues.

Maintain clear documentation of indicators, data sources, and reporting assumptions to support transparency and continuity.

Work closely with project sponsor(s) PoC and AVPN grantees to keep program monitoring frameworks (e.g Power BI) updated

Work closely with the project sponsor(s)’s point of contact to understand reporting requirements, timelines, and system expectations.

Coordinate with AVPN grantees to collect, validate, and upload data and supporting information into Power BI.

Provide guidance and troubleshooting support to partners on reporting templates, data definitions, and system use as needed.

Act as a bridge between project sponsor(s), the Secretariat, and grantees to ensure alignment on monitoring expectations.

Consolidate grantee reports and progress updates as per reporting schedule agreed with project sponsor(s)

Consolidate periodic grantee reports and progress updates in line with the reporting schedule agreed with project sponsor(s).

Track partner submissions against agreed timelines and follow up proactively to ensure timely reporting.

Summarise key progress updates, implementation trends, and emerging issues for internal review by the Secretariat.

Support preparation of donor reports, presentations, and internal updates by providing accurate and well-structured data inputs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, public health, data science, development studies, or a related field; a postgraduate degree is an advantage.

10-15 years of relevant experience in M&E, data analysis, or programme reporting within the development, philanthropy, or public sector ecosystem.

Demonstrated experience working with data dashboards and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI or similar platforms).

Experience coordinating data collection and reporting with multiple implementing partners or grantees.

Strong data management skills, with high attention to accuracy, consistency, and detail.

Ability to work with structured reporting frameworks, indicators, and timelines.

Familiarity with MNCHN or related social sector programmes is desirable.

Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to follow up diplomatically and clearly with partners.

Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with programme and operations teams.
