The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing primary healthcare services, emergency medical assistance, health education, and wellness support to students, faculty, and staff. The role ensures the effective functioning of the college health centre, promotes preventive healthcare practices, and maintains a safe and healthy campus environment.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care
- Provide first aid and nursing care for minor illnesses and injuries.
- Assess patients and record vital signs before treatment or referral.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the Medical Officer.
- Monitor patients under observation and provide appropriate nursing care.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
2. Emergency Medical Services
- Respond immediately to medical emergencies on campus.
- Stabilize patients and provide emergency first aid until advanced medical care is available.
- Coordinate ambulance services and hospital referrals.
- Inform parents/guardians and college authorities during serious medical emergencies.
3. Health Centre Management
- Ensure the health centre is clean, hygienic, and fully operational.
- Maintain adequate stock of medicines, consumables, and first-aid materials.
- Check medicine expiry dates and replenish inventory on time.
- Ensure proper maintenance of medical equipment.
4. Health Records & Documentation
- Maintain confidential medical records of students and employees.
- Record outpatient visits, treatments provided, and referrals.
- Maintain accident, injury, and incident registers.
- Prepare daily, monthly, and annual medical reports.
5. Preventive Healthcare
- Organize periodic health check-ups and screening programmes.
- Assist in vaccination and immunization drives.
- Monitor students with chronic medical conditions.
- Promote preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyle practices.
6. Health Education & Wellness
- Conduct awareness sessions on:
- Personal hygiene
- Nutrition
- Mental health
- Stress management
- Communicable disease prevention
- Women's health
- Support wellness initiatives and health campaigns.
7. Student & Campus Support
- Provide medical support during:
- Sports events
- Cultural programmes
- College functions
- NSS/NCC camps
- Industrial visits
- Educational tours
- Coordinate with hostel wardens for student health issues.
- Assist students requiring ongoing medical attention.
Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
