LK Academy is a leading competitive examination institute in Gujarat, providing coaching for UPSC, GPSC, Banking, SSC, Railways, Defence, Law entrance and other competitive examinations through its multiple branches and online learning platform.
We are looking to empanel one experienced Advocate to provide legal support and representation for the organisation across its branches in Gujarat.
Role Overview
The selected advocate will act as the Panel Advocate / Legal Consultant for LK Academy and will provide legal advice, documentation support, legal notices, dispute management and representation in legal matters as and when required.
The advocate should be capable of independently handling routine legal matters and coordinating with local advocates wherever physical presence is required at a different location.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Advisory
- Provide legal advice to the management on day-to-day business and operational matters.
- Advise management on potential legal risks before taking important decisions.
- Provide guidance on student, employee, vendor and other disputes.
- Advise on applicable laws, rules and regulations affecting the organisation.
2. Legal Notices & Disputes
- Draft and issue legal notices on behalf of LK Academy.
- Review and respond to legal notices received by the organisation.
- Handle student/parent fee disputes, refund-related disputes and other complaints requiring legal intervention.
- Advise the management on appropriate action in case of disputes.
3. Agreements & Documentation
- Draft, review and modify agreements and legal documents.
- Review employment/faculty agreements, vendor agreements, rental/lease agreements, MOUs, NDAs and other business documents.
- Ensure important agreements provide adequate legal protection to the organisation.
4. Employment & HR Matters
- Provide legal guidance regarding employee/faculty-related disputes.
- Review disciplinary actions, termination-related matters and employment documentation.
- Advise management regarding compliance and potential employment-related legal risks.
5. Intellectual Property & Brand Protection
- Advise on copyright, trademark and intellectual property matters.
- Assist in cases involving unauthorised use of LK Academy's name, logo, study material, content or other intellectual property.
- Provide legal guidance regarding copied content, misleading representations or misuse of the organisation's brand.
6. Litigation & Court Matters
- Represent LK Academy before appropriate courts/authorities wherever required and within the advocate's area of practice.
- Handle or coordinate case filing, documentation and court proceedings.
- Keep the management informed about the progress of ongoing matters.
- Coordinate with local advocates where physical representation is required in another city.
7. Legal Compliance
- Identify potential legal/compliance risks in the organisation's operations.
- Review important policies, notices and public-facing documents from a legal perspective.
- Keep management informed about significant legal developments relevant to the organisation.
Candidate Requirements
- LLB degree from a recognised university.
- Valid Bar Council enrolment.
- Practising Advocate with relevant experience.
- Prior experience in civil, consumer, commercial, employment or corporate-related matters will be preferred.
- Experience handling legal notices, drafting agreements and litigation will be an advantage.
- Ability to independently assess a matter and recommend an appropriate course of action.
- Good drafting and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of organisational, employee and student information.
- Willingness to handle matters across Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot as required.
- Ability to coordinate with local advocates for matters requiring physical presence outside the advocate's primary location.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience representing educational institutions, companies, banks, businesses or other organisations will be preferred.
Experience in handling student/consumer disputes, employment matters, contractual disputes, civil matters and legal documentation will be an added advantage.
Nature of Engagement
This is a Panel Advocate / Professional Engagement, not a full-time employment position.
The selected advocate will be empanelled with LK Academy and will be assigned legal matters as and when required.
The commercial arrangement and professional fees will be discussed and finalised with shortlisted candidates based on the scope of work and the candidate's quotation.

We are looking for a lawyer who can become the single legal point of contact for LK Academy and provide practical, timely and business-oriented legal guidance whenever required.
The ideal candidate should be approachable, responsive and capable of handling matters professionally while protecting the organisation's interests.
