Job Summary
The Fabric & Accessories In charge is responsible for the receipt, storage, inventory management, issuance, and coordination of all fabrics and garment accessories required for production. The role ensures timely availability of materials, maintains inventory accuracy, minimizes wastage, and supports uninterrupted production while adhering to quality and company standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial Receipt & Inspection
- Receive fabrics and accessories from suppliers.
- Verify quantities against purchase orders and delivery challans.
- Coordinate quality inspection of incoming materials.
- Report shortages, damages, or quality issues to the Purchase and Quality departments.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate stock records of fabrics and accessories.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder requirements.
- Conduct periodic physical stock verification and reconciliation.
- Ensure proper storage to prevent damage, contamination, or loss.
Material Issuance
- Issue fabrics and accessories to production as per approved requisitions.
- Maintain proper issue and return records.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production delays.
- Track material consumption against production orders.
Accessories Management
- Manage inventories of threads, buttons, zippers, labels, elastics, tapes, packaging materials, hang tags, poly bags, and other trims.
- Ensure accessories are issued according to production specifications.
- Maintain batch-wise and style-wise accessory records where applicable.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs), stock registers, issue slips, and inventory reports.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.
- Maintain computerized inventory records using ERP or inventory management software.
- Assist in internal and external inventory audits.
Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, Cutting, Quality, and Merchandising departments.
- Ensure materials are available according to production schedules.
- Communicate inventory shortages and replenishment requirements promptly.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure materials are stored according to quality standards.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) or other approved inventory practices.
- Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in the stores area.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Commerce, Textile Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Certification in Inventory or Store Management is an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–7 years of experience in fabric, accessories, or garment store management.
- Experience in garment manufacturing or textile industries is preferred.
