Job Summary
The Physiotherapist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with physical impairments, disabilities, or movement dysfunctions. In an academic role, the position also involves teaching physiotherapy students, supervising clinical training, and contributing to research and professional development in rehabilitation sciences.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties
- Assess patients’ physical condition, mobility, strength, and functional limitations.
- Develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans.
- Provide therapeutic interventions such as exercise therapy, electrotherapy, manual therapy, and rehabilitation programs.
- Manage rehabilitation for orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and sports-related conditions.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and injury prevention.
Academic Responsibilities (If Faculty Role)
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical training in Physiotherapy subjects.
- Supervise clinical postings and internships in hospitals and rehabilitation centers.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessment tools.
- Guide students in case studies, research projects, and dissertations.
- Conduct practical demonstrations of physiotherapy techniques and equipment use.
Rehabilitation & Patient Care
- Design and implement rehabilitation programs for post-surgical and chronic conditions.
- Promote functional independence and quality of life in patients.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, nurses, and occupational therapists.
- Provide ergonomic and lifestyle counseling to patients.
Equipment & Facility Management
- Operate physiotherapy equipment such as ultrasound therapy, TENS, IFT, laser therapy, and traction devices.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of rehabilitation equipment.
- Maintain patient records, treatment notes, and progress documentation.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols.
Research & Professional Development
- Conduct research in physiotherapy, rehabilitation sciences, and movement disorders.
- Publish research papers in reputed journals and participate in conferences.
- Stay updated with advancements in physiotherapy techniques and technologies.
- Engage in continuous professional development and certifications.
Community & Outreach Activities
- Participate in health camps, disability screening programs, and rehabilitation outreach initiatives.
- Promote awareness of physical fitness, injury prevention, and healthy lifestyles.
- Contribute to public health and community rehabilitation programs.
Qualification & ExperienceEssential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy (BPT).
- Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy (MPT) in relevant specialization.
- Registration with State Physiotherapy Council (as applicable).
Preferred Experience
- Clinical experience in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or sports clinics.
- Teaching experience in physiotherapy institutions (for academic roles).
- Experience in neuro, ortho, cardio-pulmonary, or sports rehabilitation.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
- Expertise in physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques.
