About the Job:
The Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in India (Pune or Bangalore). In this role, you will contribute to the engineering and development of our multicluster fleet management capabilities.
You will collaborate closely with architects and global engineering groups in North America, APAC, and EU to ensure seamless integration and feature delivery. We are looking for an exceptional communicator and software developer who can bridge technical gaps across time zones and foster an inclusive, collaborative environment.
You will actively collaborate with product managers, engineering leadership, and open source communities to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions. You will have the unique opportunity to help shape the technical foundation of this strategic team and act as a role model for technical excellence.
What you will do:
Design and develop scalable cloud-native software using Go (Golang), Kubernetes, and distributed systems technologies.
Build and enhance Kubernetes platform capabilities including controllers, operators, APIs, and multicluster management components.
Work on core multicluster management capabilities including cluster placement, orchestration, policy management, add-on frameworks, and fleet lifecycle management.
Contribute to multicluster GitOps workflows leveraging Argo CD, Kubernetes-native deployment patterns, and cloud-native application delivery models.
Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams to deliver enterprise-grade product capabilities for Advanced Cluster Management.
Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, technical design documentation, and engineering best practices.
Contribute to and collaborate within the OCM (Open Cluster Management) open source community and related CNCF ecosystem projects.
Follow agile software engineering practices and participate in iterative development, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering workflows to improve developer productivity, software quality, troubleshooting, and implementation efficiency.
What you will bring
5+ years of software development experience building scalable backend or distributed systems.
Proficiency in Go (Golang) with experience developing Kubernetes components, operators/controllers, CRDs, or cloud-native platform capabilities.
Practical experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native application development.
Familiarity with Kubernetes API machinery, controller-runtime, reconciliation patterns, and operator development concepts.
Experience with microservices architectures, APIs, and distributed systems concepts.
Understanding of modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and agile development methodologies.
Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in globally distributed teams.
Demonstrated leadership in AI-native engineering workflows and modern developer productivity tooling, with a focus on driving innovation and adoption
The following are considered a plus:
Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects and communities.
Familiarity with GitOps platforms and workflows, especially Argo CD and multicluster application delivery.
Familiarity with multicluster management, fleet orchestration, policy governance, or cluster lifecycle management platforms.
Contributions to CNCF ecosystem projects, especially OCM (Open Cluster Management), are a plus.
Experience with AI-assisted developer tooling such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Gemini Code Assist, or similar platforms.
