Job Title: Operation Theatre Technician
Department: Operation Theatre / Surgical Services
Reports To: OT In-charge / Nursing Superintendent / Surgeon
Job Summary
The Operation Theatre Technician is responsible for assisting the surgical team before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role includes preparing the operation theatre, maintaining sterile conditions, handling surgical instruments and equipment, and ensuring that all OT protocols and safety standards are followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operation theatre before scheduled surgeries.
- Check and arrange surgical instruments, equipment, supplies, and sterile packs.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection-control practices.
- Handle, clean, disinfect, sterilize, and store surgical instruments appropriately.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of OT equipment.
- Assist with patient positioning and transfer while maintaining patient safety.
- Prepare and maintain surgical trolleys and instrument sets.
- Assist with counting instruments, needles, and surgical materials before and after procedures.
- Dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital protocols.
- Maintain OT records, inventory, and documentation.
- Assist in emergency surgeries when required.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the operation theatre between procedures.
- Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection-control guidelines.
Qualifications
- Diploma/B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant hospital/OT experience preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization, infection control, and OT procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations.

Working Conditions
- Full-time hospital-based position.
- May require rotational shifts, night duties, weekends, and emergency/on-call duties.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
