Role Summary
We are seeking skilled E&I Technicians to execute the installation, wiring, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of field instrumentation, control panels, telemetry systems, and automation equipment across the water distribution network. The role involves working in challenging field environments such as valve chambers, manholes, remote sumps, pumping stations, and reservoir sites while ensuring safe and reliable operation of automation assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute cable laying, cable tray installation, cable gland termination, and field wiring for PLC panels, valve actuator control panels, telemetry panels, and communication equipment.
- Install and commission flow meters, including insertion-type and hot-tapping installations where required, along with pressure transmitters, level transmitters, and other field instruments.
- Perform installation and maintenance activities at ESRs, GSRs, collector wells, booster sumps, pipeline nodes, valve chambers, and remote monitoring locations.
- Assist engineers during loop checking, signal verification, commissioning, and testing activities.
- Troubleshoot field issues including 4–20 mA signal failures, communication faults, telemetry connectivity issues, instrument malfunctions, and power supply problems.
- Execute preventive maintenance activities such as sensor cleaning, instrument inspection, panel housekeeping, earthing verification, battery checks, and replacement of silica gel and moisture protection devices.
- Conduct regular inspections of field panels and telemetry cabinets to ensure protection against water ingress, corrosion, vandalism, and animal intrusion.
- Maintain installation records, maintenance logs, and field service reports in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry requirements, electrical safety standards, and all site HSE protocols.
- Support emergency breakdown maintenance and restoration activities across the distribution network as required.
Qualifications
- ITI (Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic) or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2–5 years of field experience in instrumentation, electrical systems, automation, or telemetry installations.
- Experience with field wiring, instrument installation, panel maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in confined spaces, manholes, valve chambers, and remote field locations.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work across multiple project sites.
