- Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and maintain mainframe based applications using COBOL and related mainframe tools and utilities
- Analyze business requirements translate them into technical specifications and implement efficient scalable solutions on the mainframe platform
- Perform impact analysis code changes unit testing and integration testing for enhancements defect fixes and production support activities
- Optimize existing COBOL programs and mainframe jobs for performance reliability and maintainability
- Collaborate with business analysts QA and infrastructure teams to ensure end to end delivery of features and releases
- Provide L3 support for critical production issues including root cause analysis and permanent fixes
- Participate in code reviews enforce coding standards and contribute to best practices for mainframe development
- Create and maintain technical documentation including design documents job flows and support guides
- Mentor junior team members on mainframe concepts COBOL coding practices and troubleshooting techniques
- Contribute to modernization initiatives including refactoring legacy code and preparing systems for integration with newer technologies
