What You'll do
As a Lead Software Engineer (ServiceNow FSO) at Principal Financial Group, you will be at the forefront of crafting innovative and high-performance software solutions. Your role will involve crafting, developing, and implementing software that drives our products. You will work in close collaboration with our product development team to understand user needs and translate them into flawless technical specifications. Ensuring our software products are scalable, reliable, and efficient will be key to your success.
You'll have opportunity to:
Solution Architecture & Development

Build and implement FSO applications using out‑of‑the‑box data models, case management, and workspaces.

Bring to bear the Financial Services Data Model (FSO Core) when modeling accounts, products, and transactions.

Develop playbooks, flows, and subflows through Process Automation Designer/Flow Designer.

Implement Workspaces for guided resolution. Integrations & Data

Build API integrations with document repositories.

Use recommended implementation approaches and environment strategy to accelerate safe deployments.

Embed compliance and audit-ability into workflows and align with industry standards.

Lead a team of ServiceNow engineers by following coding standards, upgrade-safe build, and platform guidelines.

Mentor engineers on scripting, UI actions, Script Includes, Business Rules, and performance optimization.

Perform peer reviews and manage update sets/app repositories.

Partner with product and architecture teams to align scope, trade-offs, and timelines.

Communicate risks early with options.

Translate business requirements into executable engineering scope.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s(Engineering)/Master’s in computer science or a related field.

Certification in ServiceNow CSA and CAD is required.

5–8 years of software engineering experience, with 4–6+ years on ServiceNow; 1+ years implementing FSO (Banking and/or Insurance).

Strong Now Platform engineering: JavaScript, Glide API, Flow Designer, Process Automation Designer, UI Policies/Actions, and scoped apps, integration developed with IntegrationHub/REST.

Deep knowledge of FSO capabilities: case & knowledge, Workspaces, Advanced Work Assignment, document management, omnichannel, and Performance Analytics.

Hands‑on experience with FSO Core data model (accounts, products, transactions) and extension patterns/ACLs.

Experience with Now Assist (GenAI) for Banking/Insurance use cases and measurement of quality improvements.
