- Conduct Online/Group Tutoring Sessions: Deliver engaging live classes (1:1 or batch) covering all four modules — Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing for both PTE and CELPIP.
- Create Personalized Lesson Plans: Assess students’ current English level (through diagnostic tests), identify weak areas, and design customized study plans, strategies, tips, and tricks tailored to target scores (e.g., PTE 65+/79+ or CELPIP 7+).
- Teach Exam-Specific Strategies:
- PTE: Focus on computer-based tasks like Describe Image, Retell Lecture, Summarize Written Text, Essay Writing, and AI scoring nuances.
- CELPIP: Emphasize Canadian English context, tasks like Speaking (8 tasks), Writing (email & opinion essay), and test format differences from IELTS.
- Run Mock Tests & Provide Feedback: Administer full-length practice tests, review recordings/answers, give detailed performance feedback on pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, coherence, and task achievement. Track progress over time.
- Develop Study Materials: Prepare or share practice questions, templates, vocabulary lists, grammar notes, pronunciation exercises, and accent neutralization resources.
- Student Assessment & Motivation: Conduct regular evaluations, share progress reports with students/parents, motivate learners, and adjust strategies for improvement.
- Handle Administrative Tasks (as freelancer):
- Manage your own schedule, bookings, and payments.
- Market services on platforms like Upwork, TeacherOn, Instagram, Facebook groups, or personal channels.
- Provide demo classes to attract new clients.
- Maintain records of student results and testimonials.
- Stay Updated: Keep knowledge current on exam format changes, scoring criteria, and best practices for PTE and CELPIP.
Typical Requirements for Freelancers
- High personal scores (PTE 79+ or CELPIP 9–12 preferred).
- Prior teaching experience in English proficiency tests (IELTS/PTE/CELPIP).
- Strong neutral accent, excellent communication, and tech-savviness (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.).
- Flexible hours (often evenings/weekends to suit international students).
