Network & Infrastructure Engineer
Position: Network & Infrastructure Engineer
Department: Project Execution
Experience: 1–2 Years
Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics, Electronics & Communication (ECE), Electrical, or a related field. Networking certifications or pursuing (CCNA, MikroTik, Ubiquiti, etc.) will be an added advantage.
Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive Network & Infrastructure Engineer to manage and maintain the organization's IT and networking infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have hands-on knowledge of networking devices, NAS, and office IT infrastructure, along with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. The role also serves as the centralized networking escalation point for the in-office Technical Support team — handling complex, large-site networking issues raised by partners that the Support team is unable to resolve on a standard call — and ensures the availability and management of technical inventory.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network & IT Infrastructure
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot office network infrastructure, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and internet connectivity.
- Set up and maintain NAS devices, local servers, and other office IT infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance and ensure stable, secure, and reliable connectivity across the organization.
- Maintain network documentation, IP addressing records, and infrastructure configurations.
- Coordinate with internet service providers and external vendors for network-related requirements and issue resolution.
2. Technical Escalation Support
- Act as the centralized networking escalation point for the in-office Technical Support team when a partner's site-networking issue cannot be resolved on a standard support call.
- Diagnose and resolve complex networking and connectivity issues at partner sites — typically larger or multi-node deployments involving routing, switching, VLANs, or Wi-Fi coverage/interference problems.
- Support the Technical Support team directly in most cases — reviewing logs, network topology, or remote diagnostics they've already gathered — and speak with the partner directly only when the issue needs deeper technical back-and-forth.
- Visit partner sites only when the issue cannot be resolved remotely, based on defined site-complexity criteria (e.g. node count, floor count, or repeated failed remote attempts).
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring escalations and recommend corrective actions.
- Document technical findings and contribute to the internal knowledge base and SOPs used by the Technical Support team, so recurring issues get resolved at the first level over time.
3. IT Inventory Management
- Manage inventory of networking equipment, IT hardware, testing devices, and technical accessories.
- Track inward and outward movement, repairs, replacements, and asset allocation.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure availability of required equipment for internal teams.
- Coordinate with the Procurement team for hardware purchases, replacements, and stock replenishment.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with routers, managed switches, Wi-Fi access points, and PoE networking.
- Knowledge of IP Addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, and basic network security.
- Basic knowledge of NAS, local server setup, and shared storage solutions.
- Familiarity with networking diagnostic tools such as Ping, Traceroute, IP Scanner, and Wi-Fi Analyzer.
- Basic understanding of IoT devices and smart home networking concepts.
- Ability to work effectively with the in-office Technical Support team as a second-level technical resource — reviewing their diagnostics and guiding resolution, rather than always working the issue solo.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for critical on-site technical support.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with networking brands such as Ubiquiti, TP-Link Omada, MikroTik, D-Link, Cisco, or similar.
- Exposure to networking in smart home/IoT deployments (multi-AP mesh, VLAN segregation for automation traffic, PoE budget planning).
- Basic understanding of networking protocols such as MQTT, Thread, Zigbee, or BLE.
- CCNA or equivalent networking certification is an added advantage.
Key Competencies
- Logical troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Ownership and accountability
- Strong analytical thinking
- Effective communication and coordination
- Documentation and process orientation
- Continuous learning mindset
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Office network uptime and reliability.
- Timely resolution of networking infrastructure issues.
- Accuracy and maintenance of IT inventory records.
- Resolution time for networking-related escalated cases.
- Availability and readiness of IT and networking assets.
- Quality of technical documentation and SOP adherence.
