Position: SMO Trainer (Sewing Machine Operator)

Job Summary
The SMO Trainer will be responsible for imparting theoretical and practical training to trainees enrolled in the Sewing Machine Operator course. The trainer will ensure trainees develop the technical skills, productivity standards, quality awareness, and workplace discipline required for employment in the apparel and textile industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and practical training as per the approved SMO curriculum.
- Conduct hands-on training on industrial sewing machines and garment production processes.
- Prepare lesson plans, training schedules, and training materials.
- Train candidates on machine operation, stitching techniques, quality standards, and workplace safety.
- Assess trainees through practical demonstrations, assignments, and tests.
- Maintain trainee attendance, assessment records, and training documentation.
- Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of sewing machines, tools, and training equipment.
- Guide trainees on productivity improvement, quality control, and industry expectations.
- Conduct mock interviews, soft skills, and workplace readiness sessions.
- Coordinate with center management and placement teams to support trainee employment.
Required Qualification
- ITI/Fashion Designing/Apparel Manufacturing/Garment Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant certification in apparel or garment manufacturing (preferred).
- Training of Trainers (ToT) certification (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in garment manufacturing, apparel production, or skill training.
- Experience in operating industrial sewing machines and garment construction processes.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of garment manufacturing and stitching operations.
- Ability to train and demonstrate practical sewing techniques.
- Good communication and classroom management skills.
- Knowledge of quality standards, productivity norms, and workplace safety.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
