Job Summary:
The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall store operations, including inventory management, material handling, stock control, and store administration. The role ensures the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials while maintaining accurate inventory records and operational efficiency. The Store Manager is also responsible for supervising store staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards, and coordinating with internal departments to support smooth business operations. The position requires strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills to maintain effective store management and optimize inventory performance.
A. Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the overall day-to-day operations of the store effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure optimum stock availability at all times.
- Supervise the receiving, inspection, storage, and dispatch of materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Conduct regular stock verification and physical audits to ensure inventory accuracy and accountability.
- Ensure proper documentation of stock movements, invoices, GRNs, delivery notes, and related records.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages, overstocking, and unnecessary material wastage.
- Coordinate with the purchase department for timely procurement and replenishment of materials.
- Collaborate with sales, warehouse, logistics, and accounts departments for smooth operational flow.
- Ensure proper storage and handling practices to prevent material damage, deterioration, or loss.
- Supervise, guide, and evaluate store staff to maintain productivity, discipline, and operational efficiency.
- Implement and maintain store safety standards, security measures, and housekeeping practices.
- Monitor inward and outward material movements to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
- Identify and resolve operational issues related to inventory, storage, and material handling.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and operational reports for management review.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and audit requirements related to store management.
B. Additional Essential Responsibilities:
- Monitor slow-moving and non-moving inventory and take corrective actions to optimize stock utilization.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of physical stock with system records and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain effective coordination with suppliers and transporters for smooth material movement.
- Implement systematic material categorization and labeling for easy identification and retrieval.
- Track and monitor damaged, expired, or defective materials and ensure proper reporting and disposal procedures.
- Support management during internal and external audits by providing accurate store records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and operational standards within the store.
- Analyze inventory consumption patterns and provide recommendations for improving stock efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of inventory data, stock records, and company assets. Continuously identify opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
- Proven experience in store management, inventory control, or warehouse operations.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, stock control procedures, and store documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/software systems related to inventory and store operations.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and team management skills.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and coordination abilities with attention to detail.
