Role Type: Full-time
Function: Hardware Engineering / Product Development
About Reneonix
Reneonix is building deeptech infrastructure for circular raw material recovery. We work at the intersection of hardware systems, AI vision, traceability software, and material science to convert fragmented post-consumer material streams into verified industrial-grade secondary raw materials.
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who can take ownership of the design, development, fabrication, testing, and deployment of Reneonix’s hardware systems. This is a hands-on role for someone who can move from concept sketches to production-ready machines.
Role Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for Reneonix’s hardware products, including conveyors, sorting lines, inspection modules, shredders, feeders, and material-handling systems. The role requires strong product development experience, practical prototyping ability, and a good understanding of manufacturability, assembly, testing, and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create rough product designs using sketches, CAD models and multiple design concepts.
- Perform trade-off studies across concepts to identify optimal mechanical solutions.
- Lead mechanical design and product development from concept to production.
- Design and develop mechanical systems for conveyors, sorting lines, inspection modules, shredders, feeders and material-handling equipment.
- Prepare prototypes for design feasibility evaluation and testing.
- Develop and execute test plans for mechanical systems and product validation.
- Oversee fabrication, assembly, and integration of hardware systems.
- Ensure products conform to required performance, safety and market specifications.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including AI, electrical, fabrication, operations and deployment teams.
- Create part drawings, assembly drawings, material BOMs and engineering documentation.
- Prepare Engineering Change Notices related to product development, improvements, and cost reduction.
- Apply design for manufacturability, design for assembly and product lifecycle principles.
- Support manufacturing teams during product launch and resolve engineering issues during fabrication, testing, and deployment.
- Continuously improve existing machine designs for reliability, cost, serviceability and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in mechanical product development, machine design or industrial equipment development.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle, engineering processes, fabrication and assembly.
- Experience working with mechanical systems, industrial machines, automation equipment or material-handling systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving, hands-on startup environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Required Skills
- 3D CAD modeling, preferably SolidWorks.
- Concept development and mechanical architecture.
- Prototyping and hands-on fabrication support.
- Part drawings, assembly drawings, and BOM preparation.
- Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly.
- Finite Element Analysis.
- Product testing and validation.
- DFMEA and engineering risk analysis.
- Material selection and vendor coordination.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes such as sheet metal, machining, welding, bending, and assembly.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with conveyors, sorting machines, inspection systems, shredders, feeders, or industrial automation equipment.
- Experience working with vendors, fabricators, and machine shops.
- Exposure to pneumatic, motor, gearbox, bearing, shaft, frame and structural design.
- Experience taking a product from prototype to field deployment.
- Prior startup or product development experience is a plus.
