Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled VMC Programmer to develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) used in manufacturing precision automotive and industrial components. The role involves process planning, tool selection, program validation, cycle time optimization, and continuous improvement to ensure high-quality production, maximum machine utilization, and cost-effective manufacturing. Experience in machining transmission components is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop CNC programs for VMC machines using CAD/CAM software and machine controllers.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, process sheets, and customer specifications.
- Prepare machining strategies, tool paths, and setup sheets for new and existing parts.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, work holding devices, and machining parameters.
- Optimize cycle times while maintaining component quality and productivity.
- Conduct prove-out and first-off validation of CNC programs before production release.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and modify programs to improve efficiency and reduce scrap.
- Support production teams during new product development and process implementation.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Quality, and Maintenance departments for process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and manufacturing best practices.
- Maintain program documentation, revision records, and machining standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen principles.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience in VMC programming within automotive or precision machining industries.
- Experience in machining transmission, gearbox components is preferred.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and manufacturing practices.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or equivalent controllers).
- Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, NX CAM, or SolidCAM.
- Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and tolerance stack-up.
- Understanding of cutting tools, inserts, tooling systems, and fixture design.
- Experience in cycle time reduction and process optimization.
- Familiarity with CNC probing systems and tool presetting.
Preferred Experience
- Programming multi-operation VMCs for high-volume production.
- Experience with transmission housing, gearbox casing components.
- Knowledge of fixture validation and process capability studies.
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and process development.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
