This position is part of Chief Engineers office, developing Power Products for Datacenter and Electrical Systems. The Senior Specialist – Digital Power Systems (Datacenter) is a key technical contributor responsible for the architecture, design, and development of digitally controlled power conversion systems used in data center infrastructure. This role combines power electronics product development with strong embedded firmware and software expertise to deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable solutions for critical power applications.
The role operates with high technical autonomy, influencing platform level design decisions across Power shelves, Solid State Breakers, Energy Storage Systems and DC distribution systems, while collaborating closely with cross functional teams including hardware, firmware, systems, and manufacturing engineering.
As a digitization Subject Matter Expert, the incumbent will be responsible for understanding customer/product requirement and from there define embedded system architecture and design. The person will be responsible for detailed software development, including coding, testing and debugging. The person will take ownership of building innovation in embedded system architecture for product differentiation. Contribution of this role will bring competitive advantage of EATON products in market.
Incumbent will be responsible for working within a cross functional team to deliver on project requirements. The person is expected to work with local and global team members located in India, U.S, Europe, China etc. Success will require deep knowledge of embedded hardware and software architecture. The incumbent is expected to execute complete embedded software development lifecycle. The goal is to create scalable and optimized software systems.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Product Development
Understand top level product requirement and drill them down to create detail requirements of digital systems for the product
Lead the design and development of digital power electronics systems for data center applications, focusing on control and communication systems
Define control architecture, and digital power management strategies aligned to efficiency, reliability, and cost targets
Perform software architecture trade‑off studies for data center power platforms
Embedded Firmware & Control Systems
Architect and develop embedded firmware/software for digitally controlled power converters using MCU/DSP‑based control platforms
Design and implement control algorithms (current, voltage, power, protection, sequencing) in C/C++ and/or model‑based environments
Integrate firmware with system‑level monitoring, telemetry, and communications (CAN, UART, Ethernet, Modbus, etc.)
System Integration & Validation
Develop test and validation plan in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements
Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure robust HW–FW co‑design
Support system bring‑up, validation, and fault analysis, including EMI/EMC, thermal, transient, and abnormal‑condition testing
Drive resolution of complex technical issues spanning power electronics, firmware, and system behavior
Platform & Standards Influence
Contribute to reference architecture, design standards, and reusable firmware frameworks within the data center power domain
Mentor junior engineers and act as a technical reviewer for critical designs
Interface with global teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to ensure design robustness and scalability
