Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Direct and Indirect Tax, notice management: GST Audits, GST notices, Income tax notice & assessments.
- a. Responsible and accountable as a core technical expert for handling scrutiny, assessments, and appeals for both Direct and Indirect Tax matters.b. Data Compilation & Fact-Finding: Compile, review, and organize comprehensive data, reconciliations, and explanations required for submission during assessment proceedings.c. Analyze notices to identify potential tax exposures for clients and collaborate with managers to formulate robust defense strategies.d. Draft legally sound responses, collaborate with internal client servicing managers and group head to discuss before making the final submissions, and represent before authorities, work on closing the notices and assessments and obtain the orders.
- Transaction-Level Withholding Tax (WHT) Consulting & Review:
- Review and understand the true commercial substance of every client transaction rather than relying on surface-level invoice descriptions. On a monthly basis, actively review vendor registers shared by the Client Servicing Group (CSG) to evaluate, verify, and apply deep technical scrutiny to withholding tax applicability across complex contracts, cross-border payments, and mixed vendor agreements.
- Proactively identify hidden tax exposures—such as business expense disallowances, interest penalties, and litigation risks—and draft specialized, high-quality technical advisory notes for clients to address nuanced scenarios, including credit card transactions, digital services, and out-of-pocket reimbursements to ensure compliance.
- Annual Audits: Annual Books of Accounts & Schedule III
- Work closely with the accounting teams to finalize and close annual books of accounts.
- Actively participate in the preparation of Schedule III financial statements, notes to accounts, key assumptions, management comments, Directors' Reports, and Management Representation Letters (MRL).
- Annual Direct & Indirect Tax Compliance:
- Review the computation, verification, and timely remittance of advance tax.
- Collaborate with the allocated team to prepare and file corporate tax computations, review tax provisions in books, and calculate Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT).
- Prepare and review comprehensive data for Form 3CD. Review, prepare, and file GST Annual Returns (Form 9/9C) along with all necessary revenue and input tax credit (ITC) reconciliations.
- International Taxation & Transfer Pricing
- Review international transactions between associated enterprises to ensure compliance with domestic and international tax laws.
- Draft, coordinate & finalize transfer pricing study reports and review master files/local files as required.
- Review and validate foreign remittance certifications (e.g., Form 15CA/15CB) and other specific forms to be filed with tax authorities.
- Strategic Tax Planning & Advisory
- Partner closely with Floraison managers to provide proactive direct and indirect tax planning, enabling clients to adopt optimized, legally compliant, and well-thought-out tax structures.
- Provide expert guidance on domestic and cross-border withholding tax implications on various commercial transactions.
- Participate in new client onboarding specifically from setting up of finance and accounting activities like setting up of chart of accounts, registration under various Acts including labor registrations, drafting of MSA & related activities.
- Participate by executing one-time activities related to dividend distribution, due diligence, change of address/director's details, implementation of new notifications as applicable to clients.
- Proactive Regulatory Research, Client Impact Analysis & Team Orientation:
- Continuously monitor, research, and interpret the latest statutory updates, notifications, circulars, and judicial precedents under both the GST framework and Direct Tax regulations.
- Take ownership of analyzing the structural and procedural changes introduced under the Income-Tax Act, 2025 and the Income-Tax Rules, 2026 (including the transition from the legacy 1961 Act, the deployment of new compliance forms, and the shift to the 'Tax Year' framework). Translate these complex regulatory changes into strategic impact assessments for individual client portfolios and proactively lead internal knowledge-sharing sessions to orient, upskill, and align the Client Servicing Group (CSG) on evolving compliance standards.
