Job Overview
We are looking for a disciplined VMC Machine Operator to join our new precision tooling facility. You will be responsible for running programmed jobs on the VMC, ensuring dimensional accuracy of die components, and maintaining the machine in top condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Loading and unloading workpieces (plates, blocks, die sets) accurately on the machine table.
- Setting Assistance: Helping the programmer with job clamping, dialling for parallelism, and tool loading.
- Dimensional Check: Frequent inspection of machined parts using Vernier, Micrometer, and Height Gauges to ensure they match the drawing.
- Tooling Management: Monitoring tool wear and tear; replacing inserts or cutters as instructed to maintain surface finish.
- Safety & Maintenance: Following all safety protocols, cleaning the machine/coolant tank, and ensuring the shop floor remains organized (5S).
- Reporting: Keeping a daily log of parts produced and any deviations observed during the cycle.
Technical Requirements
- Experience: Must have worked in a Press Tool or Plastic Mould tool room environment.
- Controls: Basic knowledge of operating Mitsubishi controllers (Cycle start, Feed override, Emergency stop).
- Drawings: Ability to read and understand 2D engineering drawings and tolerance symbols.
- Materials: Familiarity with handling Die Steels (P20, D2, WPS) and Cast Iron.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITI (Machinist/Turner) or equivalent technical certification.
- Strong focus on precision—"Micron-level" mindset.
- Punctual and willing to work extra hours when tool trials are scheduled.
