- Manage the complete store and inventory operations at the construction site.
- Receive construction materials, tools, equipment, and consumables from suppliers and verify quantities and specifications against purchase orders, delivery challans, and invoices.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, quality issues, and discrepancies and report problems to the procurement/site management team.
- Properly organize and store materials according to type, size, usage, safety requirements, and manufacturer recommendations.
- Issue materials, tools, and equipment to authorized site personnel based on approved material requisitions.
- Maintain accurate records of all material receipts, issues, returns, transfers, and stock balances.
- Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely replenishment.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile physical inventory with system/register records.
- Identify and report damaged, excess, obsolete, or slow-moving materials.
- Maintain proper documentation including GRNs, material issue slips, return notes, stock registers, and inventory reports.
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, procurement, accounts, and subcontractors regarding material requirements.
- Ensure proper storage and preservation of cement, steel, electrical items, plumbing materials, tools, PPE, and other construction materials.
- Follow FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable.
- Control the movement and return of tools, equipment, and reusable materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure store area.
- Ensure compliance with site safety, security, and material-handling procedures.
- Monitor unauthorized access and prevent theft, misuse, and material wastage.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock and consumption reports for management.
- Support project audits and provide inventory documentation when required.
- Supervise store assistants, helpers, and other store personnel and allocate their daily duties.
